Today's Run in Pictures
Borrowing from some other bloggers I decided to take some pictures today with my mobile (hence the less than stellar quality). Today's run was not particularly exciting, just a functional recovery run after a speedy session last night, 8Kms at about 5:20 pace. I tried to get all the pictures in order with commentary but stupid blogger has just stuck them in any old way, anyway readers, you will figure it out :-) About 2 Km in at Exhibition St - if the picture were better you would see how much we love our sport with the MCG, Tennis Centre and Vodafone arena in shot, what you can't see is Olympic Park. We love our sport in Melbourne! This is the bridge that leads down into Birrarung Marr, a lovely park that used to be Batman Ave, so much nicer now it has been taken over by walkers, runners and cyclists. The bottom of the "notorious" Anderson Street, a nasty 750 metres for some, a mere incline for others. Up Anderson St, around the corner and you run past the Shrine of remembrance, some days at the right time you can hear The Last Post being played On of the KM markers on The Tan, the track is 3.8 Km long. On the way home along the Yarra River A gorgeous sculpture called Angel by Deborah Halpern, it used to live in the moat outside the Gallery, I think it looks much better here. 8Km in 42 minutes (told you it was an easy run) Finished, back at the office, pick up the bag, change into the trackie and head home.

Em, my favourite marks around The Tan are the ones
- around 0.50km -0.75km, which I called The Calm Before the Storm
- around 1.0km-1.25km, when you are up the hill and get the satisfaction of having gone up
- around 2.25-2.75 km, nice and gentle.
Great shots and enjoy your new toy!

Good shots Em. Melbourne really does have some great places to run. Best of all, the Yarra and the Tan are on our doorsteps.

Tried it once but they wouldn't upload so I gave up, but must try again! You really are lucky to have such lovely tracks on your doorstep! Thanks for your comment on my blog - just keep everything crossed for me in the meantime! MAR.

Hi Em,
The good news ... great photos of the run.
The bad news .... from bottom to top (near rubbish bin) on Anderson Street is only about 400-420 metres .... :-(
Take care
