Running
Mid week long run today (slightly delayed couldn't do it yesterday), 16Km at a very easy 5:30 pace, finished in 1:28:24. Not too bad today, a tad cold and windy but I have run in worse. Feeling a bit looser today after my massage. Funnily though my quads are really achey, I am wracking my brains to figure out what could have caused it, it feels like I have done a heap of squats. Then it struck me today, in Pilates on Tuesday I did these wicked hard toetaps to a box from the end of a raised platform. Veeeeery difficult to control properly and as a result my lower abdominals and quads have a case of DOMs.

Life
There was a comment left as a result of yesterday's post about me relaxing with a glass of water ;-) Come on now, I am not that much of a goody two shoes! I am extremely partial to a good red, a Jamiesons or a Guiness, but definitely not after a massage, hence the big glass of water. Though at the moment I am in my month before a major race mode which means no alcohol, no chocolate, basically no crap. By race day I will never want to see another salad sandwich or pot of yoghurt ever again. There is no particular logic or benefit to it, I think it just gives me a psychological egde, a feeling that I have done everything I possibly can. Not that my diet is particularly bad at any other time, it is just giving up those little vices for a couple of weeks, it helps me focus.

I always come and check in here when the chocolate is calling me - I feel guilty looking at your good efforts and it stops me from caving in LOL

Looks like it's a cup of low fat hot chocolate instead ;-)

You must have great will power to give up those things a month before a race. I seem to believe "if it tastes good, eat it"

You've done a heap of training, could it be that you may need a couple of rest days simply to re-charge your batteries.

Having said that, I don't listen to my own advice.
